Salmon Processing Wastewater DAF Case Study
A 316 stainless steel DAF with lamella plates and polymer conditioning treats the process wastewater of a salmon harvesting and processing plant on the BC coast.

The application
Fish processing wastewater carries blood, protein, fat and fine solids. A salmon farming company on the BC coast needed to treat the water from its harvest and processing plant before discharge.
Archer supplied a dissolved air flotation system built for the duty: a compact DAF in 316 stainless steel with lamella plates, a recirculation pump to make the micro-bubbles, polymer conditioning and an effluent holding tank, with an inline suspended-solids sensor to watch the treated water.
Archer has continued to support the plant with spare parts and in-house repair of the recirculation pump.
What Archer supplied
- Ekoton FT-15L DAF unit: tank, cover, lamella plates and scrapers in 316 stainless steel, with polyurethane scraper blades
- Recirculation pump (5.5 kW) for micro-bubble generation and a NORD gearmotor for the surface scrapers
- Polymer make-down and dosing equipment with peristaltic metering pump
- Effluent holding tank and inline TSS sensor with holder and cleaning assembly
- Submittal documentation, start-up support, spare parts and pump refurbishment
Design basis
