BC Coast Municipal WWTP: Centrifuge and Polymer Package Case Study

A HAUS DDE 3532 decanter with stainless cake conveyor, emulsion polymer unit and a BC-built control panel dewaters digested sludge at a municipal wastewater plant on the BC coast.

The application

A town on the BC coast tendered the supply of a new dewatering centrifuge in 2024 for the waste activated sludge leaving its aerobic digester.

Archer won the contract with a HAUS DDE 3532 from its Port Coquitlam stock, an emulsion polymer make-down unit, also in stock, a stainless screw conveyor and a control panel designed and built in BC. Keeping the centrifuge model and spare parts – including a complete rotating assembly – in stock lets the town turn round its annual maintenance quickly.

The equipment shipped in July 2025 and was commissioned with the installing contractor that summer. The panel logs process data every half second for troubleshooting.

What Archer supplied

  • One HAUS DDE 3532 dual-drive decanter centrifuge (bowl 353 mm × 1,160 mm, 15 kW main drive, 7.5 kW back-drive, 3,150 N·m gearbox)
  • Stainless steel centrate chutes and a stainless steel cake screw conveyor
  • Kozegho Polyne 100 in-line emulsion polymer make-down system
  • Stainless steel NEMA 4X control panel with PLC, touch screen and on-board data logging; option for a cellular router to Archer’s remote-monitoring server
  • Spare rotating assembly (bowl, scroll, gearbox and bearing housings) for fast change-out
  • Start-up, commissioning, operator training and performance optimization

Design basis

FeedWaste activated sludge after aerobic digestion
Feed flow5–7.2 m³/h
Feed solids0.9–3 % dry solids before polymer
GuaranteeCake ≥ 18 % TS (passes the paint filter test), capture ≥ 95 %, polymer ≤ 24 kg/t DS
Bowl3,800 rpm (2,832 G), L/D 3.29, 15° cone
