Municipal Wastewater Treatment

Decanter Centrifuges Are the Most Effective, Most Economical Solution for Your Municipality

Clean, drinkable, useable water is a crucial part of any building, business, or community—perhaps the most crucial! It's no surprise that municipal wastewater is a non-stop challenge for any community or organization, going well beyond the conditions of BOD and COD fines and raising the stakes from mere logistics to overall health and safety. Archer Separation works with your municipality to provide effective, time-tested municipal water treatment solutions that offer the safest, cleanest results that afford your community facilities their greatest investment in water treatment. We offer the best technology available as well as decades of experience in optimizing water treatment systems in communities like yours.

See why decanter centrifuges are the cleanest, safest, most economical solution for municipal wastewater treatment, or read on for an explanation of how the technology works so well.

For decades, the only available municipal water treatment option available were increasingly-advanced forms of filtration; many layers of filtering materials with differing thicknesses could collect wastewater solids and rinse away the clarified water. Filter presses, the descendant of this process, can be quite effective if optimized but require a great deal of additional labour (so it can't always be operated at all times) and have a noticeably smaller throughput—and as a municipality expands in scale, the individual and community-wide need for clean water increases massively, making presses less and less economical. Archer Separation recommends municipalities looking to newly install or upgrade municipal water treatment choose a decanter centrifuge.

Decanter centrifuges, though they are paired with filtering devices, work fundamentally differently than presses. Rather than forcing wastewater through a filter, the decanter centrifuge feeds water through its central drum, where it's rapidly spun at a constant rate. This separates the clean water from the remaining solid “cake,” resulting in much higher water extraction than other municipal water treatment options. Drier solids mean more water re-enters your water system more frequently, as well as exerting less demand on your facility space and tank capacity over time.

What Does a Decanter Centrifuge Contribute to Municipal Wastewater Treatment?

Clarifies Water

A decanter centrifuge, in a coincidental process of “centrifugal clarification,” acts to separate solids in the wastewater during process. In the process of taking dirt, debris and micro-organisms away, the device clarifies itself. This eases the load on the remainder of the system, while helping to minimize matter and residue on the system—keeping abrupt maintenance costs from becoming a concern. At Archer Separation, we have years of experience tuning decanter centrifuges to ideal operating speeds to achieve this desirable side effect.

Controlled Output

De-watering and sludge thickening are only two of the many options afforded to the operators of a decanter centrifuge applied to municipal wastewater treatment. Through added thickening polymers and Archer Separation's remote monitoring service, sludge type and flow rate can also be adjusted to perfectly suit your municipality's needs—even on the fly! By controlling the output in this way, your municipality can overcome or prevent wastewater treatment issues before they start, saving time and money.

Convenience of Installation

The standard in-line decanter centrifuge designs supplied by our partners at HAUS can be quickly installed, easily relocated, and be smoothly incorporated into your municipal wastewater treatment system. HAUS provides this example of how their in-line decanter centrifuges can be applied as part of a municipal wastewater treatment system:

Cost-Effective Both Short- and Long-Term

Municipal wastewater treatment labour is an underestimated factor and cost in wastewater management. Decanter centrifuges, in contrast to other separation or filtration solutions, offer immediate around-the-clock processing of wastewater requiring no additional labour, saving municipal costs and allowing those savings to be used in areas of lower efficiency. Furthermore, decanter centrifuges boast the single highest cost-to-benefits ratio across its life-cycle, with the highest throughput of any wastewater treatment equipment plus higher overall capacity. Even factoring maintenance costs (minimized with our years of expertise and remote monitoring services), the lifetime cost of a decanter centrifuge is dramatically lower than its contemporaries—and if one measures them against their volume of clarified output, the advantage goes even more strongly to the decanter centrifuge.

Disposal of Solids, Simplified

Dry cake output, with the lowest water content remaining, is one of the biggest feathers in the decanter centrifuge's cap. This means the decanter centrifuge offers redoubled benefit for the municipal wastewater treatment plant; cleaner water was the goal of the wastewater treatment to begin with, but the driest possible output means lower landfill and disposal costs, while also being easier to transport and manipulate.

Dependability

Decanter centrifuges are among the most durable and reliable processing wastewater treatment equipment in the industry, with many operating centrifuges being decades old. The long-term dependability of decanter centrifuges can be enhanced greatly with remote monitoring for any concerns and the expertise to provide maintenance and guidance when required—both provided by Archer Separation. We help you determine the optimum intake, output and speed settings of your facility to maximize your municipality's wastewater treatment in the long-term; our partners' decanter centrifuges offer the most effective wastewater treatment for your municipality, and we are eager to help keep it that way.

With the needs of municipal wastewater treatment expanding as fast as their communities or more, it's increasingly important to meet your municipality's water needs with a technology that can keep up with the rapid pace of modern development. Archer Separation provides decanter centrifuges, the proven and time-tested solution to this need, plus the service and equipment to get the most out of your community's investment.

We understand your municipal wastewater treatment and wastewater separation needs, and will meet those needs with the best technology available!
