Sludge Dewatering
Archer Separation Provides Decanter Centrifuges, Helping Your Facility Capture or Dispose the Solids from Wastewater Sludge!
At Archer Separation, we partner with industry-leading equipment manufacturers like HAUS Centrifuge Technologies to bring water treatment and other facilities the sludge dewatering solutions needed to face these obstacles, most often with the powerful, cost-saving benefits of a decanter centrifuge. Using a decanter centrifuge can significantly lower processing, recapture, and disposal costs, all while achieving the highest dry solids capture among the sludge dewatering technologies.
Reasons to install a decanter centrifuge for sludge dewatering.
Sludge dewatering demands a great deal of the facilities responsible for reclaiming or disposing of the de-watered solids. These solids are more of an obstacle to process and dispose of, which can lead to mounting costs and complications for facilities that are required to utilise sludge dewatering systems to accomplish their tasks. Alternatively, the solids are valuable and can be repurposed, but only if the provided sludge dewatering solution is efficient enough at solids capture.
Decanter centrifuges are the most efficient and a powerful choice for sludge dewatering—or any other process demanding a separation of liquid from solid(s). This is because decanter centrifuges can produce high rates of centrifugal force—often up to 5000 G-forces! This induces a constant, forceful stratification of the input stream, resulting in a thoroughly-separated output. In sludge dewatering systems, a decanter centrifuge produces dewatered “cake” that's up to 50% dry solids; for both solids reclaiming and wastewater sludge disposal, this resulting cake is particularly ideal.

Reasons to install a decanter centrifuge for sludge dewatering
The advantages of installing a decanter centrifuge for your sludge dewatering are considerable:
Constant Processing
Lowered labour costs, higher throughput, greater efficiency, etc. The need for a separate, costly installation to receive and convey the solid cake is one of the disadvantages of filter pressing wastewater sludge. Even when included in the newer models, filter presses are batch-based—that is, they process single vats of wastewater at once, have to be emptied fully and refilled to begin a new batch. In contrast, decanter centrifuges efficiently process wastewater and manage the solid cake in a continuous flow, with all necessary components integrated into the equipment.
Disposal Options
The dry cake produced by a decanter centrifuge offers operators several disposal and processing options, making it an ideal choice for wastewater treatment, which can have disposal demands particular to the region or jobsite. The cake can be conveyed to a different location in the wastewater facility, be incorporated into compost, or easily be transported to another location for disposal—depending on the nature of the wastewater and needs of the facility.
Less chemicals
Unlike a filter press, which often requires chemical treatment to capture solids effectively (and de-calcify afterwards), a decanter centrifuge captures the most solids without any additives. This means fewer chemical additives finding their way into your disposal system, with a resulting reduction in BOD and COD fees, where applicable. We feel there's a good reason to prevent additional chemicals if your centrifuge is applied to wastewater sludge processing—after all, chemical and solid removal is the reason your facility is processing wastewater sludge to begin with!
More with less
A decanter centrifuge is much smaller than its alternatives, allowing it to be installed in a wider variety of facilities and occupy less space when installed. In some cases, a facility can save on land costs with economically-sized decanter centrifuges. We at Archer Separation offer decades of experience in size, type, and setting selections for your sludge dewatering system—we're with you every step of the way.
No-fuss maintenance
Decanter Centrifuges can operate independently and requires minimal supervision by an operator. These are the lowest maintenance sludge dewatering equipment available with the least amount of labour and upkeep. When properly tuned (which we at Archer are here to help you with), the decanter centrifuge requires only minimal specialized maintenance.
Recover Resources
Not all separated solids in sludge dewatering are bound for disposal! In some cases, the solids in the dewatered sludge may be a valuable material (either for re-purposing or as a commodity). In such situations, the significantly improved dry solids capture rate of decanter centrifuges maximizes the recovery of valuable resources for your facility—while transporting it is cheaper and easier, too.
Reduced transport and disposal costs
Using a decanter centrifuge can lead to transport and disposal cost savings of up to 80%. These savings can be even greater when disposal operations are close to the centrifuge or if the equipment is optimized—something we at Archer Separation specialize in. This blend of efficiency, productivity, and ease of use for operators makes decanter centrifuges the industry standard for sludge dewatering.
Wide throughput variety
Though the temptation to save costs on sludge dewatering equipment is high, equipment with a narrower range of applications (such as filter presses for sludge dewatering) can pigeonhole your facility's ability to dewater wastewater sludge. Filters require constant maintenance and operation, and the filter components determine what can be filtered effectively.
Conversely, a decanter centrifuge can process all sludge types with the same high output of dry solids content. This is because the decanter centrifuge has no filter, instead performing sedimentation with G-forces. This lack of need for parts-swapping means a decanter centrifuge can be re-tuned for differing intake materials within the same day—Archer Separation can even help make these adjustments remotely.
There's no doubt which sludge dewatering solution is best for your requirements; Archer Separation offers the best equipment and years of experience, tuning your best-in-class sludge dewatering apparatus to the conditions you need in ways contemporary technologies can't handle—only decanter centrifuges offer the sludge dewatering system with the best output, most constant and efficient throughput, and driest solids capture.
